Robinhood to offer crypto, stock trading and custody in Dubai, eyes Middle East push in 2027

Robinhood Markets has received approval from the Dubai Financial Services Authority to provide trading in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and in stocks, as well as digital asset custody, in the Middle East. The approval covers retail trading and custody across 10 asset classes including bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies, stocks, ETFs and investment tokens. Robinhood plans to set up a base in the Dubai International Financial Centre in 2027 to launch services across the Middle East and North Africa.

16 U.S.-listed companies including Goldman Sachs and Microsoft oppose tokenised versions of their shares

Tokenised stock trading is growing quickly in overseas markets, but major U.S.-listed companies are opposing the tokenisation of their shares, slowing moves into regulated U.S. markets. CNBC reported that companies including Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald\'s, Western Digital and Alphabet objected to tokenised versions trading on OKXICE, taking the total to 16 firms. Control over issuance and protection of shareholder rights have emerged as key issues.

Kalshi introduces bitcoin-backed loans, targets U.S. perpetual futures market

U.S. prediction market platform Kalshi is expanding in the regulated U.S. crypto perpetual futures market by introducing crypto-backed loans and using Webull’s distribution network. Kalshi partnered with digital asset custodian BitGo to set up a lending structure, aiming to offer its perpetual futures to more than 6 million Webull customers. Kalshi launched regulated bitcoin perpetual futures earlier this year and later added gold, silver and a US500 stock index contract.
