Samsung SDS ranks No. 2 in South Korea public cloud market, overtakes Microsoft -IDC
Samsung SDS has risen to second place in South Korea\'s public cloud market, overtaking Microsoft, according to an IDC report. IDC put the 2024 market at 62.37 trillion won in revenue, with Amazon Web Services leading on 22.0 percent. Samsung SDS held 11.3 percent, followed by Microsoft on 9.6 percent, Naver on 5.0 percent and KT on 2.0 percent. Samsung SDS posted the fastest growth among major providers.

Cocktail.io appoints Namutech vice president Cho Jae-woo as new CEO
Virtualisation and cloud company Namutech said on April 8 it appointed Cho Jae-woo, a vice president at Namutech, as chief executive of its subsidiary Cocktail.io. Cho has led Namutech’s cloud business and sales organisation since 2010, driving major project wins and business expansion. Cocktail.io plans to use his field-focused management experience to strengthen market responsiveness and expand orders in hybrid cloud and AI.

MSIT says 2024 South Korea cloud market revenue tops 9 trillion won
South Korea\'s cloud market revenue in 2024 rose 25.2 percent from a year earlier to 9.26 trillion won, a survey by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency showed. IaaS, PaaS and SaaS revenue all increased by more than 20 percent, while cloud management services grew 31.4 percent. The number of cloud firms rose 13.5 percent to 2,712 and cloud workers increased 8.4 percent to 33,217.
