SpaceX to block Starlink GPS-alternative location feature as low-Earth orbit navigation race intensifies
Starlink will stop providing a location-information feature it has offered to some users from May 20, local time. The feature has been used as a de facto auxiliary navigation tool in environments where GPS signals are jammed. SpaceX earlier acknowledged Starlink could provide positioning, navigation and timing services, and some users accessed dish location data through the app’s debug menu. SpaceX did not explain why it is ending the feature, as interest in GPS alternatives grows.
