China\'s Z.ai first-half revenue surges 400 percent as it shifts to cloud-focused model
Chinese AI company Z.ai said first-half revenue rose 400 percent from a year earlier to 953.89 million yuan, driven by cloud-based deployment and API business. The company posted a smaller overall loss of 2.07 billion yuan, while adjusted net loss widened to 1.96 billion yuan and R&D spending rose to 2.13 billion yuan. Cloud deployment revenue surged and its share of total revenue jumped, but gross margin fell as computing and inference costs weighed on profitability.

Mystery AI model Ox Alpha confirmed as China\'s Z.ai product
China\'s AI research lab Z.ai has been confirmed as the developer of the anonymous coding model Ox Alpha. The model appeared on OpenRouter without a logo, company name or separate announcement and drew millions of developer queries in a week. It supports a 1,048,576-token context window and can handle text, images and video. Developers and researchers traced it through tokenizer fingerprinting, server-response comparisons and error-format tests.

Claude Code overtakes GitHub Copilot to top developers\' AI coding tools
Nine out of 10 professional developers use AI coding agents at least once a week, a JetBrains Research survey showed. In workplace use, Claude Code ranked first at 39 percent, overtaking GitHub Copilot at 21 percent. Awareness of the two services was the same at 79 percent. OpenAI\'s Codex also gained recognition, rising to 65 percent in mid-2026, while its workplace use reached 16 percent.
