An OpenAI employee uses 100 billion tokens a month, CEO Sam Altman said at a media event, adding the world’s biggest token user is not an OpenAI employee. Altman said OpenAI’s top user 6.5 years ago used about 100,000 tokens a month, a level that may have been the world’s highest then. He said AI costs have become a key issue as usage expands and companies seek efficiency.
