South Korea cabinet approves amendments to Information and Communications Network Act
South Korea’s cabinet on Monday approved amendments to the Information and Communications Network Act to strengthen measures spanning the prevention of cyber incidents and responses to them. The science ministry said the bill consolidates more than 20 proposals from lawmakers and follows parliamentary approval on March 12. The revision expands the role of chief information security officers, mandates corporate security committees and introduces a 2027 security-level evaluation system. It also toughens penalties for hiding hacks and repeated breaches.
