Canada\'s British Columbia vote signals energy policy shift as Conservatives win majority
The Conservative Party won British Columbia\'s provincial legislature election, strengthening plans to expand liquefied natural gas production and exports. The party secured a majority of seats, while the centre-left New Democratic Party lost power after nine years. Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson pledged to double gas output by 2032 and triple it by 2035, alongside faster permitting and looser regulation. The party also plans to overhaul carbon pricing and remove emissions caps for LNG projects.
