Korea postal delivery workers to support national statistics surveys in government efficiency drive
South Korea\'s post office will join national statistical surveys by using its delivery worker network. The Postal Service and the National Data Agency signed an agreement on May 6 in the Government Complex Daejeon to improve the efficiency of statistical surveys. Under the deal, postal delivery workers will visit some households in three pilot districts for a first trial survey tied to the 2029 household and housing basic survey, with pre-tests starting in June.

South Korea research industry totals about 21,000 firms, sales 28.6 trillion won
South Korea\'s research industry comprises 21,007 companies that generated 28.6 trillion won in domestic and overseas sales in 2024, a government survey showed. The number of firms rose 6.1 percent from a year earlier, while sales increased 3.6 percent. The biggest revenue segment was contract research. Research-industry employment totalled 190,000 people. The share of firms with research units and in-house R&D performance increased, while total R&D spending fell 2.5 percent.

Mindlogic launches AI agents for public data analysis
AI startup Mindlogic said on Tuesday it has launched two agents: Korea in Data for analysing national statistics and Law in Data focused on laws and ordinances. Korea in Data is a conversational AI jointly developed with the National Assembly Futures Institute and a research team led by Seoul National University professor Ko Kil-gon. It links directly to official data sources including KOSIS and provides real-time analysis. Law in Data is trained on domestic legal data to support administrative work.
