KAIST targets physical AI beyond humanoids, unveils next-generation strategy
KAIST will hold Physical AI Korea 2026 on Oct. 13 at its main campus in Daejeon and present physical AI platform technology that can be used by various companies, along with research, education and startup strategies. President Bae Chung-sik (배충식) is set to stress that the key is implementing AI that understands and acts in the real world across diverse sites. He will demonstrate a wearable robot developed by Professor Kong Kyung-chul (공경철) and his team.

KAIST, Nvidia to set up physical AI technology centre to develop human motion model
KAIST and Nvidia will develop a human motion foundation model that learns human movement and physical intelligence for use in controlling wearable robots and humanoids. KAIST said on Saturday it will establish the Nvidia AI Technology Center for joint research in physical AI. The partners will set up a Human Physical Intelligence Technology Center at KAIST’s mechanical engineering department and run research, education and a student ambassador programme.

SK $500 billion, Samsung $200 billion: global AI deals unveiled
Around a San Francisco AI summit, South Korea unveiled government-led cooperation plans between global AI companies such as Nvidia, OpenAI and Broadcom and Korean firms including Samsung Electronics, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group and Naver. Nvidia and SK Group disclosed a partnership intent worth more than $500 billion, while Samsung and Broadcom signed an MOU worth more than $200 billion through 2030. Nvidia and Brookfield also plan a $10 billion investment in Naver.
