From TFM to CEM, AI models different from LLMs are arriving

AI companies are increasingly betting on models that operate differently from large language models, including tabular foundation models for structured data prediction, decision-focused models that output choices and probabilities, and code execution models that optimise running programs autonomously. Gartner flagged large quantitative models as a key 2027 keyword. SAP and Nvidia have moved into TFM. Decision model competition has expanded to major firms. DoublesAI unveils CEM AI model to cut computing costs by up to 67 percent

Nvidia-backed Israeli startup DoublesAI is introducing an AI model aimed at cutting companies\' computing costs, the Wall Street Journal reported on Oct. 19. The company, founded by Mobileye co-founder and CEO Amnon Shashua (암논 샤슈아), has raised $220 million from investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Nvidia and Dell. DoublesAI says an early customer reduced computing costs by 67 percent. Its first product, Maxwell, is to be supplied from late October.

Mercedes to fit Waabi AI driving system within two years

Mercedes has signed a production agreement with British autonomous driving startup Waabi and plans to install Waabi\'s artificial intelligence driving system in its vehicles within two years. It is the first time Waabi\'s end-to-end driving AI will be applied to mass-produced premium passenger cars. The system will be integrated with Mercedes hardware, MB.OS and map interfaces, and offered as an advanced driver assistance feature for city streets and highways. Details were not disclosed.
