Microsoft drops \'Copilot Plus PC\' brand
Microsoft appears to have effectively halted use of the \'Copilot Plus PC\' brand. The Verge reported that the newly unveiled 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop meet the system requirements but are no longer being described with that label. Microsoft Surface executive Brett Ostrum said the new products are not called Copilot Plus PCs. Qualcomm executive Kedar Kondap said similar PCs will also stop using the branding.

Qualcomm chip-based Microsoft Surface PCs show 80 percent faster local AI inference
Qualcomm presented agentic AI as the direction for its Snapdragon X2 series at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Maui, Hawaii. Microsoft unveiled a 12-inch Surface Pro and a 13-inch Surface Laptop powered by Snapdragon X2 Plus. Qualcomm said local AI inference is 80 percent faster than the previous generation and GPU performance is up to 55 percent higher. The company also highlighted more operating systems, software demos and wider retail and enterprise adoption.

Qualcomm shares up 75 percent in a month, emerges as a leader in physical AI
Qualcomm shares jumped 12 percent on May 22 to a record high and are up 75 percent over the past month, CNBC reported. The move reflects Wall Street’s recognition of Qualcomm’s position in the physical AI boom, it said. CNBC said Qualcomm is cementing its role as a key chip supplier for connected devices such as smart glasses, cars and robots. It also cited partnerships and contracts spanning automakers, and plans for data-centre chips.
