Nvidia is jumping into the ARM-based Windows laptop market.
The Verge reported on Friday that Nvidia will introduce N1 and N1X system-on-chip (SoC) designs for Windows laptops this spring. Lenovo is developing six laptops based on them, including a 15-inch gaming laptop.
Lenovo, the world’s largest laptop maker, is preparing various models including the IdeaPad Slim 5 (14-inch and 16-inch), Yoga Pro 7 (15-inch) and Yoga 9 (2-in-1).
Dell also plans to launch an Alienware gaming laptop equipped with Nvidia’s N1X early next year, and it could also be applied to the XPS lineup.
Performance for the N1 and N1X chips has not been finalised, but a Geekbench leak suggests the N1X will include CUDA cores comparable to an RTX 5070 desktop graphics card and 20 CPU cores. This matches the configuration of Nvidia’s GB10 “superchip.”
Nvidia has previously targeted the ARM-based consumer device market by supplying Tegra chips for the Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Surface RT. This time, it plans to pursue a more powerful ARM laptop market in cooperation with MediaTek.
