SpaceX Starlink to launch second-generation V2 network in 2027
SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service has unveiled plans to build a second-generation (V2) satellite network, targeting speeds and quality similar to terrestrial 5G even in satellite-connected environments. Starlink engineering executive Michael Nichols said V2 satellites could offer up to 150 Mbps download speeds in ideal conditions and support 100 times higher data density than the previous generation. SpaceX plans to begin deploying more than 50 V2 satellites per launch from mid-2027 and build the next constellation in about six months. Starlink also announced a partnership with Deutsche Telekom starting in 2028.
