China\'s CXMT to double DRAM output, but easing memory shortage seen unlikely

China\'s memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) is expected to sharply expand DRAM production capacity through 2028, but the supply improvement felt by global PC consumers is likely to be limited. Counterpoint Research and TrendForce forecast wafer output rising from about 320,000 this year to 420,000 in 2027, with a possible 500,000 to 600,000 by 2028. Most additional supply may go to China, and prices are not seen as clearly competitive.
