Zhongji Innolight becomes top-weight stock in CSI300, pushing past CATL

Chinese optical module maker Zhongji Innolight has become the largest-weight constituent of China’s CSI300 index, as investment in AI infrastructure boosts demand for related shares. Its index weighting reached 5 percent, ahead of battery company CATL at 4.1 percent. Technology now accounts for 22 percent of the CSI300, while financials have slipped to 19 percent. The company’s shares have nearly doubled this year.

Wyoming implements executive order to attract AI data centres, pledges protections for water use and residential power rates

Wyoming has issued an executive order to support development of AI data centres and advanced computing facilities, setting a consistent statewide framework for permits, reviews, regulation and support. The order links efforts to attract investment with principles covering water use, environmental sustainability, workforce development and protections for residential electricity consumers. It comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an order to promote advanced AI technology for national security purposes.

Hedge fund billionaires make opposing bets on Microsoft and Alphabet

U.S. billionaire hedge fund managers Bill Ackman and Daniel Loeb took opposing positions on Microsoft and Alphabet in the first quarter, a filing-based report showed. Ackman’s Pershing Square built a new Microsoft stake of about 5.65 million shares worth roughly $2.09 billion, while Loeb’s Third Point sold its entire Microsoft holding and added about 175,000 Alphabet shares. The split is linked to differing views on AI investment and valuation.
