Pion deploys AI shopping host on Naver Shopping Live
Pion Corporation, an AI agent marketing solution company, said on April 28 that its project with Naver Shopping Live produced results in which AI outperformed sales from broadcasts featuring human shopping hosts. The company said it has run AI production tests since February to change what it described as a high-cost, low-efficiency structure. It said it completed a proof of concept in two months and entered regular operations across categories including fashion, electronics, food and living.

Dairy industry enters second round of \'protein war\' with higher content, derivative products
South Korea\'s dairy industry is ramping up competition in ready-to-drink protein beverages by increasing protein content and rolling out derivative products. Namyang Dairy Products launched a renewed Take Fit Monster with 45 grams of protein, while Binggrae raised The Protein to as much as 40 grams. The domestic protein market has expanded rapidly since 2018, with beverages accounting for about 60 percent. Companies are also moving into amino acid-based energy gels as competition intensifies.

Namyang Dairy shifts from milk to protein and chocolate after return to profit, remaining tasks
Namyang Dairy returned to an operating profit last year after five years of losses, which is seen as a result of portfolio diversification and high-intensity efficiency measures under its largest shareholder, H&Q. The company expanded categories beyond white milk into protein, processed milk, coffee and tea, and its Takefit brand gained traction in convenience stores. Industry concerns persist that the turnaround could reflect short-term cost cuts, with sales still below 1 trillion won.
