Kakao finance posts record results as Bank and Pay expand into corporate, securities and insurance
KakaoBank and KakaoPay posted record results, while Kakao’s financial business broadens beyond lending margins and simple payments into corporate finance, investment, insurance and advertising. KakaoBank is expanding lending and deposits from household customers to sole proprietors, SMEs, corporates and foreign-currency products, while KakaoPay is linking payment users and data to securities and insurance services. The companies also plan to connect KakaoPay Securities’ stock services to KakaoBank’s app in September.

KakaoBank investment tab draws 5.43 million users in three months
KakaoBank said cumulative users of its investment tab, launched in April, surpassed 5 million in about three months, reaching 5.43 million as of July 26. The service integrates in-app investment functions so users can check products and holdings in one place. It provides portfolio analysis and market updates using KakaoBank AI. Fund sales balances exceeded 1.8 trillion won in the first half, and available fund products rose to 80 from 6.

KakaoBank posts record annual net profit, up 9.1 percent
KakaoBank recorded its highest-ever annual results again last year. The company said annual operating profit rose 7.0 percent from a year earlier to 649.4 billion won, while net profit increased 9.1 percent to 480.3 billion won. It said growth in non-interest income offset a decline in loan interest income. Non-interest income rose 22.4 percent to 1.09 trillion won, accounting for more than 35 percent of total operating revenue of 3.09 trillion won.
