Why OpenAI wants to make its own smartphone: AI agents
OpenAI is developing an AI processor for smartphones in cooperation with MediaTek and Qualcomm, and Luxshare has been selected as the exclusive co-design and manufacturing partner for the system, Apple-focused analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (밍치궈) said on X on April 27. Based on industry information, OpenAI is aiming to begin mass production in 2028, he said. He expects product specifications and suppliers to be finalised in late 2026 to the first quarter of 2027.

MacBook Neo outlook and touchscreen, OLED MacBook roadmap revealed
Apple has launched a new MacBook Neo priced at $599, with a Korea price of 990,000 won. Apple-focused analyst Ming-Chi Kuo forecast 4.5 million to 5.0 million unit sales and said Apple is using memory market imbalances to strengthen price competitiveness. He said touchscreen may not come to the next Neo, while OLED touchscreen upgrades for MacBook Pro could arrive in late 2026 or early 2027 and MacBook Air could shift to OLED in 2028 or 2029.

Reports citing Financial Times and IDC data show shipments fell sharply in late 2025. Production and marketing retrenchment has also been reported, alongside a major cut in digital ads. Apple is said to be reallocating staff to smart glasses development, with AR glasses seen as a longer-term goal.
