China\'s LineShine supercomputer regains world top spot with homegrown technology
China has regained the top spot in global supercomputer performance for the first time since 2017, achieving the world’s No. 1 result without GPUs despite U.S. semiconductor and AI technology restrictions. The National Supercomputing Center’s LineShine recorded 2.198 EFlops, topping Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s El Capitan at 1.809 EFlops. TOP500 said LineShine is the first sustainable double-precision 2-exaflop-class system built using CPUs only.
