Databricks annualised revenue tops $7 billion
Databricks said on Thursday its annualised revenue had exceeded $7 billion. The company said it grew by more than 80 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier and completed a $5 billion strategic investment round that valued it at $190 billion. Databricks said it will use the funds to accelerate innovation in core AI products including Lakebase, Genie and Unity AI Gateway. Coatue led the round, with Blackstone, MGX and T. Rowe Price Associates participating.

Databricks unveils unified architecture for operational and analytics data, targeting AI agents
Databricks on Monday unveiled a new data architecture that integrates transactional databases and analytics systems. At its Data+AI Summit in San Francisco, the company introduced its lake transactional/analytical processing (LTAP) architecture and a real-time analytics engine designed to deliver millisecond responses without separate systems. Databricks said LTAP uses a single dataset in a data lake for both operational and analytics workloads, removing the need for CDC pipelines, ETL processing and replica databases.

Databricks CEO says SaaS is not dead, shift to natural language interface is key
Databricks, a cloud-based data platform, has surpassed $5.4 billion in annualised revenue and is emphasising the role of AI in the software-as-a-service market, TechCrunch reported on Feb. 9. CEO Ali Ghodsi (알리 고드시) said AI is not replacing SaaS but increasing usage, citing a surge in database use via its generative AI interface Genie. He said the key shift is from traditional user interfaces to natural language. Databricks has launched its AI-friendly database Lakebase and is accelerating market expansion.
