Kakao Mobility to aggressively pursue E2E autonomous driving commercialisation
Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-son said the company is aggressively building a pipeline to commercialise end-to-end autonomous driving using real-time road data and platform operations expertise. Kakao Mobility said it held a forum with lawmaker Jung Joon-ho on AI autonomous driving demonstration cities. The company has joined the AI Future Car M.AX Alliance and set up a Physical AI division led by former Waymo executive Kim Jin-gyu. The transport ministry plans to deploy about 200 AI autonomous vehicles in Gwangju from the second half of the year.

Tesla no longer just an EV maker as 4680 battery cell returns
Elon Musk is preparing a $1.5 trillion IPO for SpaceX, raising hopes for a revival in the listing market, while a SpaceX-Tesla merger is seen as complex. Tesla plans to end Model S and Model X production and switch the line to Optimus robots as it pivots toward physical AI. It is also pursuing partial Apple CarPlay integration and has restarted Model Y output using 4680 battery cells, alongside progress on a dry electrode process.

Taxi, mobility industry begins building ecosystem for shift to autonomous driving
South Korea\'s taxi and mobility industry has agreed to cooperate on building an industrial ecosystem to shift corporate taxis to autonomous driving. The National Federation of Taxi Transport Associations signed an agreement with partners including Hyundai Motor, Kakao Mobility and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance. The consultative body will hold monthly meetings to monitor related policies and institutions and push joint proposals to the government. It has commissioned research on autonomous taxi service models.
