South Korea launches CCU megaproject with LG Chem, POSCO Holdings
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Tuesday it held a launch briefing for a \"CCU Megaproject\" to conduct large-scale demonstrations of carbon capture and utilisation technology with private companies including LG Chem and POSCO Holdings. The project will demonstrate producing e-SAF from emissions from thermal power plants and converting steel industry emissions into syngas and cleaner marine fuels. The ministry said 238 billion won in state funds will be invested from 2026 to 2030.

MSIT holds meeting on securing ultra-gap solar cell technology
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said it held a meeting of solar cell researchers in Daejeon on March 10 to share the status of technology development and progress on research tasks. The ministry said the meeting discussed ways to secure \"ultra-gap\" solar cell technologies to lead the next-generation market and heard difficulties in R&D. Researchers presented results including 26.3 percent efficiency in a perovskite-CIGS tandem solar cell, and participants called for full-cycle support for early commercialisation.

Science ministry seeks new energy, environment technologies to launch commercialisation projects
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Jan. 30 it found 7 new technologies in future energy and environment and will pursue new commercialisation. It has run a consultative body since 2024 with 11 academic societies and 12 government-funded research institutes. The ministry plans detailed project design for the selected technologies and aims to 추진 them as new R&D projects in 2027.
