MSIT to seek public comment on revised AI Framework Act enforcement decree
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on May 21 it will seek public comment from that day on a draft revision to the enforcement decree for the Artificial Intelligence Framework Act, ahead of the law\'s July implementation. The draft defines the scope of AI-vulnerable groups and sets rules for prioritising AI products and services in public procurement, including liability exemptions. It also expands eligibility for cost support, specifies procedures for using a venture fund for AI startups, and sets requirements for AI research institutes.

AI Basic Act support desk opens to address business difficulties
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT on Thursday held an opening ceremony for an \"AI Basic Act support desk\" at the Korea AI Software Industry Association. The desk aims to address industry difficulties related to the AI Basic Act, which took effect the same day. Specialists in legal, institutional and technical fields will provide consultations and guidance. Consultations are generally confidential, with replies targeted within 72 hours or within 14 days for complex cases.

LG Uplus co-develops open API platform with Korean SME
LG Uplus said on Monday it has developed a Network Open API Platform, also called an Open API Gateway, with telecom equipment maker Ariatech. It said the platform offers carrier network functions in standardised API form for outside developers and companies. LG Uplus said it provides APIs to strengthen personal data and financial security, including handset number authentication and SIM-change information, as well as quality-on-demand functions to raise service quality when users want it.
