BAMTC launches user reporting system to curb exaggerated device subsidy ads
South Korea\'s Broadcasting and Media Telecommunications Commission said on Feb. 26 it will introduce a user-participation reporting system from March 3 to reduce consumer harm from false or exaggerated handset subsidy advertising and omissions in contracts. The system will begin around the launch of Samsung Electronics\' Galaxy S26. Users can file reports through the Korea Communication User Protection Association website. If a violation is confirmed, the reporter will receive compensation of up to 200,000 won per year.

Bamitaongwi launches user reporting scheme to curb exaggerated device subsidy ads
Bamitaongwi said on Wednesday it will introduce a user-participation reporting scheme from March 3 to reduce consumer harm from false or exaggerated handset subsidy ads and contract-related omissions. The scheme will coincide with Samsung Electronics\' Galaxy S26 launch. Reportable cases include subsidy payments that differ from ads, failure to provide contracts, missing entries on subsidies and conditions, inducement into high-priced plans, and mismatched dealer information. Confirmed reports can earn rewards of up to 200,000 won a year.

Online Damage 365 Center consultations top 10,000 as rights-infringement cases surge
South Korea\'s Online Damage 365 Center has handled 10,488 consultations since opening in May 2022, with 4,181 received in 2025 alone. Goods and services cases were most common in 2025, followed by cyber financial crimes and rights infringements. Rights-infringement consultations rose to 882 from 374 a year earlier, led by privacy misuse and defamation. The share of cyber financial crime fell as voice-phishing and smishing cases declined.
