South Korea's Broadcasting Media Communications Commission said on Thursday that paid TV subscribers totalled 36,150,070 in the second half of 2025. That was down 76,030 from the previous half.

By platform, internet protocol television (IPTV) accounted for the biggest share, with 21,535,256 subscribers, or 59.57 percent. Cable operators had 11,935,236 subscribers, or 33.01 percent, and satellite broadcasters had 2,679,578, or 7.41 percent.

IPTV subscribers rose by 120,735 from the first half, while cable fell by 155,820 and satellite dropped by 40,945. Over the past 3 years, IPTV showed a gradual increase, while cable and satellite continued to decline.

By operator, KT ranked first with 9,123,463 subscribers, or 25.24 percent. SK Broadband (IPTV) followed with 6,691,354, or 18.51 percent, then LG Uplus with 5,720,439, or 15.82 percent, LG HelloVision with 3,391,130, or 9.38 percent, and SK Broadband (cable) with 2,747,125, or 7.60 percent.

For the survey, the Korea Information and Communication Promotion Association conducted a working-level review of IPTV, cable and satellite operators from January to March. A specialist review committee made up of private-sector members reviewed and approved the results in April.
