Banks\' 4.9-day workweek spreads, accelerating revamp of branch operations

Banks are moving to adopt a 4.9-day workweek built around early Friday departures, a shift seen as reshaping branch operations and customer touchpoints beyond shorter hours. NH NongHyup Bank to start early Friday leave from March 27

NH NongHyup Bank is introducing a “4.9-day workweek” scheme, under which employees will leave work 1 hour earlier every Friday starting March 27, the financial sector said on Wednesday. The bank will keep its business hours unchanged, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The scheme was agreed in October last year in industry-wide wage talks between the Korea Financial Industry Union and the Korea Financial Industry Employers Association.
