MSIT holds joint briefing on 10 AI projects for livelihoods, to roll out services sequentially
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Thursday it will hold a joint briefing in Seoul on its \"10 AI projects for livelihoods\" to quickly introduce services people can experience in daily life. The projects span consumer life, public convenience and social safety, and involve 10 ministries and agencies and participating companies. The ministry plans to sequentially launch 4 services within 2026 and start the remaining 6 projects in the first half of 2027.

South Korea finalises 2026 narcotics control plan covering crackdown and rehabilitation
South Korea has approved its 2026 narcotics control implementation plan, combining tougher crime enforcement with expanded rehabilitation and prevention. The plan sets four strategies and 90 tasks, including twice-yearly joint crackdowns at airports, ports and entertainment venues, dedicated teams to block online distribution, and AI-based detection R&D. It also expands counselling and treatment, boosts campaigns and education, strengthens international cooperation, and rolls out secondary inspections of international mail nationwide.

Ministry of Science and ICT holds awards for 100 best national R&D achievements
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held an awards ceremony on Friday in Seoul for the 2025 list of 100 best national research and development achievements. The programme, launched in 2006, selected 100 outcomes from 970 recommendations submitted by 23 ministries and agencies, following a public verification process. Winners can receive benefits in future project selection and evaluations, and may be recommended for awards. The ministry plans follow-up R&D to support maturity and commercialisation.
