Korea Cable TV Association selects 16 outstanding local channel programmes for first and second quarters
The Korea Cable TV Association on Sept. 16 held its 67th awards ceremony for outstanding cable TV local channel programmes for the first and second quarters of 2026. It selected 16 winners from 93 finalists, including 8 news reports, 6 regular programmes and 2 specials. The winners covered issues such as disputes over power facility expansion, social isolation among the elderly, rental deposit fraud, housing polarization, sustainable tourism and the limits of a multi-member constituency system.

Korea Cable TV Association to hold election broadcasting training ahead of June 3 local elections
The Korea Cable TV Association (KCTA) will hold practical training on election broadcasting on April 10 for staff in charge of reporting, production and programming review at system operators ahead of the June 3 nationwide local elections. Experts from related bodies will teach rules and cases on election broadcast review, fairness in election reporting and how to run televised debates. KCTA chairman Hwang Hee-man said election broadcasts must deliver accurate, trusted information to local voters.

Pay-TV industry moves ahead of broadcast media telecoms commission normalisation
South Korea’s pay-TV industry is drafting messages and proposals to deliver to the Broadcast Media and Telecommunications Commission ahead of its expected normalisation. Industry associations are shaping requests on regulatory imbalance with global OTT platforms, channel regulation and content fee standards. IPTV operators also want easing of bundled pricing regulation and say some reporting rules work like approvals. Industry groups plan briefings and seminars to share proposals with the government, parliament and the commission.
