The Korea Cable TV Association (KCTA) said on April 9 it will conduct practical training on election broadcasting on April 10 for staff in charge of reporting, production and programming review at system operators ahead of the June 3 nationwide local elections.

Experts from institutions related to election broadcasting will take part as instructors, focusing on fairness and strengthening practical capabilities. The program includes rules and cases for election broadcast review (Broadcasting Media and Communications Deliberation Committee), fairness in election reporting and desirable election coverage through case studies (Internet Election News Deliberation Committee), and how to operate election broadcast debates (National Election Broadcast Debate Commission). It is structured around both theory and hands-on practice.

Previously, cable TV said its in-house election opinion poll for the 22nd National Assembly election in 2024 posted a 100 percent accuracy rate. It drew evaluations that it raised the status of regional channels with election broadcasts that combined accuracy and innovation by using AI announcers and content reflecting local characteristics.

KCTA Chairman Hwang Hee-man (황희만) said election broadcasting is an important area that must deliver accurate and reliable information to local voters. He said KCTA will ensure thorough training and preparation so cable TV regional channels can provide election broadcasts that combine on-the-ground reporting and fairness and offer practical help to local residents’ choices.
