Lee Jae-myung pledges to reform outdated rules to boost broadcasting competitiveness
President Lee Jae-myung (이재명) said he will rationally reform regulations that no longer fit the times to strengthen the competitiveness of the broadcasting industry. In a congratulatory address read out at a Broadcasting Day event in Seoul, he praised broadcasters for driving K-content to the world’s centre and pledged to support autonomy and independence and build a “basic media society” guaranteeing participation, access and choice. Industry and parliamentary leaders also called for support.

Korea Post unveils commemorative stamp for 150th birth anniversary of Kim Gu
Korea Post, under the Ministry of Science and ICT, will issue 528,000 commemorative stamps on Aug. 28 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of independence activist Kim Gu. The stamp features a portrait of Kim taken in Chongqing, China in 1942 and includes a quote from his autobiography, \"Baekbeom Ilji\". A special postmark uses a line from \"My Wish\" in the book. Related displays are planned in Seoul.

Hana Bank signed an agreement with Gwangbokhoe to support independence merit recipients and their descendants by using profits from a public interest trust. The bank said it will return matured trust principal to subscribers and use the remaining trust profits for veterans-related projects for recipients and descendants. The two sides will also promote a programme marking the 150th birth anniversary of Kim Gu, including scholarships and livelihood support, site visits and research.
