Korea broadcast media telecom commission to fund 20 AI-made programmes with 7.2 billion won
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission said on Tuesday it will invest 7.2 billion won to support 20 productions under an AI and digital-based broadcast programme production scheme. The programme spans overseas-focused drama and non-drama series, documentary exports and AI-based public interest content. Applicants include domestic broadcasters and OTT operators. At least 20 percent of funding per project must be allocated to AI or digital technology, except in the documentary export category.

Woori Bank to mark 150th birth anniversary of Kim Gu with UNESCO
Woori Bank said on Tuesday it signed an MOU with the UNESCO Korean National Commission to cooperate on joint branding and social contribution projects. The two sides will work on promotions and related initiatives tied to UNESCO-designated commemorative figures in South Korea, including the 150th birth anniversary of independence leader Kim Gu. Woori will launch special products and donate 1,000 won per subscription to culture-content projects.

Lee to visit Shanghai provisional government building restored by Samsung in 1993
Samsung restored the Shanghai building that housed South Korea’s Provisional Government in 1993 after a voluntary proposal by Samsung C&T employees, the company said. President Lee Jae Myung, on a state visit to China since Jan. 4, met President Xi Jinping on Jan. 5 and is scheduled to visit the building on Jan. 7. The building served as the government’s base from 1926 to 1932 and had later fallen into disrepair.
