Mercedes eyes Hungary production for compact G-Class in bid to cut costs
Mercedes-Benz is reported to be pushing a plan to produce its compact G-Class, known as the “Baby G”, in Hungary rather than Germany to lower manufacturing costs and offer a more accessible-priced G-Class. The model is also said to be switching to the MMA platform that supports both electric and internal combustion powertrains. Expectations include preserving G-Class styling while offering less off-road capability and using more conventional drivetrain layouts than the larger G-Class EV.
