South Korea privacy watchdog sanctions 3 firms, including Duo, for failing data security measures
South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission held its seventh plenary meeting on April 22 and decided to sanction three companies for violating personal data protection rules. It imposed a total of 4.79 billion won in penalty surcharges and 17.4 million won in administrative fines, and ordered corrective measures and public disclosure. The sanctioned firms were KS Korea Employment Information, Duo Information and Geumneung Park Cemetery, which suffered data leaks after inadequate security and processed resident registration numbers without legal grounds.

TTA extends ICT standards cooperation and secretariat designation validity by five years
The Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) said on Sunday that the National Radio Research Agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT extended the validity of its designation as a cooperating organisation for ICT standards development and as an international standardisation secretariat for ISO, IEC and JTC 1 until April 5, 2031. TTA said it will continue managing 32 committees and 1,137 national standards and pursue AI-based application standardisation.

PFCT, SNU computer engineering team disclose joint research results on AI credit scoring
PFCT said on Feb. 12 it carried out a 10-month joint study with a Seoul National University computer engineering research team led by Professor Byung-Ro Moon to expand AI credit-scoring methods. The study compared and tested algorithms using de-identified real financial data. The team applied the transformer deep-learning architecture to credit scoring and analyzed its characteristics and constraints. Some tests showed improved KS and recall in low-credit segments.
