KAIST develops precision antibody targeting intracellular cancer mutations
Researchers at KAIST developed an antibody that detects traces of cancer-causing mutations that are difficult to reach with conventional antibody treatments. KAIST said the antibody selectively recognises only cancer cells carrying the KRAS G12D mutation by targeting mutation fragments presented on the cell surface. Tests showed little reaction to normal cells or other proteins, and immunotherapy experiments indicated effective removal of such cancer cells. The team is verifying efficacy in animal disease models.
