Lam Research launches industry-academia-public program to train semiconductor talent
Lam Research has launched an industry-academia-public cooperation program in South Korea to train semiconductor process integration specialists. The U.S. chip equipment company is working with the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology. The course uses Lam Research\'s Semiverse Solutions simulation platform to provide virtual process training. It will run at least three times a year and aims to train about 100 people in its first year.

MOTIE to raise mid-sized firms\' R&D budget 20 percent to 65.5 billion won
South Korea\'s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said on Sunday it will strengthen support for mid-sized companies\' research and development, with an emphasis on regional development and manufacturing AX. It allocated 65.5 billion won for this year, up 20 percent from 54.8 billion won a year earlier. The ministry will create regional-only tracks in key programmes and provide more than 60 percent of new tasks to regional mid-sized firms.

South Korea launches program to develop 500 promising exporters
South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said it will start recruiting companies from Jan. 16 for the K-Export Star 500 program. It aims to select promising exporters and foster 500 firms into “export star” companies with at least $10 million in exports by 2030. The ministry cited export concentration among top firms and said support will be provided with five agencies across marketing, certification and patents, export finance and R&D consulting.
