KB Kookmin Bank has launched a savings product for foreign customers living in South Korea to support their financial lives and asset building. The \'KB Global Star Savings\' account is a 12-month, free-deposit plan allowing monthly payments from 1,000 won to 500,000 won. The base annual rate is 2.0 percent, with up to 3.5 percentage points in preferential rates for meeting transaction conditions, bringing the maximum to 5.5 percent. The bank is also running a promotion through end-September.

Tether, the world’s largest stablecoin issuer, has filed multiple trademark applications in South Korea, including for its corporate brand and gold-linked stablecoin Tether Gold (XAUT). The move comes as discussions advance on tightening stablecoin rules, including possible requirements for foreign issuers to set up local branches. Rival Circle has also stepped up outreach in Korea and expanded platform partnerships. The domestic market is seen as large, though the regulatory framework is still unsettled.
