Five former Ethereum Foundation researchers have set up a nonprofit research and development organisation, Ethlabs, to conduct Ethereum research aimed at shifting institutional investors onchain. CoinPost reported that BitMine and SharpLink are major backers. Ethlabs said its initial work will focus on conditions needed for large-scale institutional flows onchain, including faster settlement, native issuance, cross-chain transfers, mainnet throughput and Ethereum’s monetary characteristics.

MetaMask has launched a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet designed for AI agents, The Block reported. The Agent Wallet supports autonomous trading in the Ethereum ecosystem, including swaps, perpetual futures, prediction markets and liquidity provision. Transactions are simulated and executed under user-set daily spending limits and allowlists. Blockaid scans for fraud and threats, with 2FA or email approval required for risky trades. Safe trades are covered up to $10,000.
