KB Financial opens Jeonbuk KB Financial Town to activate asset management hub

KB Financial Group has opened an asset management-focused financial hub in Jeonbuk Innovation City. The group plans to strengthen asset management work linked to the National Pension Service and to provide comprehensive financial services and startup support for local residents and companies. Major affiliates including KB Kookmin Bank, KB Securities, KB Insurance and KB Asset Management will move in. About 350 group employees are expected to be based there.

Science ministry opens Gyeongnam, Jeonbuk AX R&D bid to step up physical AI megaproject

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency said they will accept applications through July 28 for the 2026 Gyeongnam and Jeonbuk AI transformation R&D programme. The physical AI project will run from 2026 to 2030 with 1.41 trillion won in total funding, split between Gyeongnam and Jeonbuk. The plan includes regional briefings and a selection process through August.

Hana Financial to build capital market hub in North Jeolla

Hana Financial Group said it will select Jeonbuk Innovation City as its capital market strategy centre and build an integrated financial hub with specialised capital-market functions. The plan will consolidate key group capabilities such as asset management, securities, custody and institutional sales, while strengthening National Pension Service fund-linked business and locally focused finance. Hana Financial plans a phased build-out centred on relocating about 150 staff and creating a One-Roof centre. It also plans to expand support for youth startups and small businesses.
