Global regulation outpaces plant buildout, speeding up Korean anode materials shift
Korean anode materials makers are accelerating plans to localise synthetic graphite as a U.S. route for Chinese graphite shifts from high tariffs to tax credit eligibility requirements. With capacity expansions and long-term supply contracts largely concentrated in 2027, domestic cell makers have limited options to replace Chinese materials before then. Import prices have fallen, but U.S. 45X rules on prohibited foreign entities tighten from 2026.

SK to cooperate with Vietnam on AI data centres and energy infrastructure
SK will expand into building AI infrastructure in Vietnam, linking construction of AI data centres with power supply. SK said it signed separate MOUs in Hanoi with the Nghe An provincial government and Vietnam\'s National Innovation Center to create an AI ecosystem. SK Innovation and SK Telecom will jointly review an AI data centre and related infrastructure project in Nghe An and explore energy cooperation tied to the Quynh Lap LNG power project.

POSCO Future M completes approval for investment in Vietnam anode material plant
POSCO Future M will build its first overseas production base for synthetic graphite anode materials in Vietnam after receiving an investment registration certificate from Thai Nguyen province at a Korea-Vietnam business forum in Hanoi. The company plans to invest about 357 billion won, break ground on a first-phase plant in the second half of this year at the Song Cong 2 industrial complex, and begin mass production in 2028. It said it has secured customers for the first-phase volume.
