BIS says AI spread makes central bank policy criteria more complex
The Bank for International Settlements said the spread of generative AI is complicating monetary policy for central banks worldwide. It said AI is affecting price stability, full employment and financial stability at the same time, making existing policy criteria harder to apply. The BIS said AI is changing demand and supply and could drive investment booms, asset-price effects and labour-market shifts, while uncertainty raises the risk of policy misjudgments.
