Stablecoins pose real threat to bank deposits, Standard Chartered report says
Stablecoins pose a real risk to U.S. and global bank deposits, Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 27, citing a Standard Chartered report. Standard Chartered said delays to the CLARITY bill have refocused attention on stablecoins’ impact on banks and estimated U.S. bank deposits could fall to about one-third of the stablecoin market. The report said stablecoins directly affect net interest margin income and could accelerate deposit outflows, with U.S. regional banks expected to be hit hardest.
