NASA weighs using private firms to extend Hubble\'s life
NASA is considering using the capabilities of private space companies to extend the life of the Hubble Space Telescope, which has observed space for more than 30 years. The agency is seeking options to move Hubble to a higher orbit as atmospheric drag gradually lowers its altitude. NASA has issued a request for information covering orbit raising, servicing and performance upgrades, and plans for safe re-entry or disposal after the mission ends. Responses are due by Nov. 30.
