MSIT holds New Year meeting to share vision for R&D special zones
Vice Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon, who also serves as science minister, attended the 2026 New Year gathering for South Korea’s research and development special zones in Daejeon on Jan. 19 and shared future development directions with zone members. The event was held under the theme of leading regional innovation ecosystems as a deep-tech base. It was the first New Year event since Gangwon was newly designated, completing six regional zones and 13 specialized zones.
