Mercedes-Benz halts U.S. launch of Level 3 Drive Pilot
Mercedes-Benz will halt the launch of its Drive Pilot Level 3 automated driving system in the United States, media reports said. The company has stopped production and will not apply the system to future new S-Class models. Drive Pilot operated only on limited highway sections in Nevada and California, with a top speed of 40 mph and strict daytime and weather requirements. It also required extra hardware and a $2,500 annual subscription fee.
