Semiconductor fab buildout accelerates, power grid supply a variable
Semiconductor makers are moving up fab construction schedules in Yongin, but power grid and water supply plans are not keeping pace. Samsung Electronics targets 2029 for its first fab at the Yongin national industrial complex, while SK Hynix plans to open a cleanroom for its first fab in early 2027. The government has brought forward the final power supply date to 2042, and current supply is about 1.9 gigawatts.

South Korea to spend 7.54 trillion won on AX Sprint to commercialise 229 AI products and services
The South Korean government will invest 7.54 trillion won to commercialise 229 artificial intelligence products and services aimed at labour shortages in farming, caregiving and industrial safety. The AX Sprint programme, overseen by the Office of Planning and Budget with 11 ministries involved, received 1,604 submissions across 246 projects. Most selected projects formed consortia with demand-side companies. Small firms made up 82.1 percent of selected companies.

KB Kookmin Bank to hold \'KB Star Run\' marathon, donate all entry fees
KB Kookmin Bank said on Wednesday it will hold the \'KB Star Run\' marathon on May 3 to promote sharing through running. The event will start at Yeouido Hangang Park in Seoul and run along the Han River area, with 5 km and 10 km options. Entry costs 30,000 won per individual or crew and will be donated in full to Good Neighbors for child support projects. A lottery will select 6,000 participants.
