Testing SpeakOn, an iPhone AI accessory for dictation, translation and text polishing
SpeakOn, an AI-based dictation accessory that attaches magnetically to the back of an iPhone, is drawing attention for automatically polishing voice input and changing writing style to suit different apps. A hands-on test by 9to5Mac said it also offers translation and sentence correction beyond basic voice typing. Anthropic expands vertical AI strategy with acquisition of AI biotech startup Coefficient Bio
Anthropic has acquired AI biotech startup Coefficient Bio in a deal worth about $400 million, The Information reported, citing sources. Coefficient Bio’s team will join Anthropic’s healthcare and life sciences group, which develops tools for biotech workflows from drug discovery to clinical commercialisation. Founded last fall, the startup built a platform for AI-driven drug R&D planning, clinical regulatory strategy management and candidate discovery.

A recent plunge in software company shares has drawn attention to a narrative that AI will threaten the sector, but pushback is also growing. Finbarr Taylor, a former Shogun CEO and CTO, said on X that it is an overreach to conclude software has no value because AI tools make building products easier. He said durable advantages for public SaaS firms include network effects, switching costs, data, brand trust and regulatory infrastructure, and argued incumbents can also use AI to match rivals’ features.
