SKT succeeds in trial of next-generation \'AI-RAN\' base station
SK Telecom said on Feb. 26 it developed AI-RAN, which provides communications and AI services simultaneously from a single piece of equipment, and succeeded in demonstrating a trial network. It said it worked with Nokia, HFR and Intel to develop a GPU-based architecture and verify it in real network environments. The company also verified AI-based integrated resource management in a virtualised base station environment and plans to unveil related technologies at MWC26.

SK Telecom said on Wednesday it developed AI-RAN, a next-generation base station technology that combines AI and communications infrastructure, and succeeded in demonstrating it on a test network. It said AI-RAN can provide communications and AI services on a single device while keeping network quality stable. SKT said it worked with Nokia, HFR and Intel to validate GPU-based architectures and AI-driven integrated resource management in real network and virtualised environments.
