Science ministry seeks entrants for govtech startup competition with 70 million won in prize money
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT is recruiting prospective entrepreneurs and early-stage startups to innovate public services using advanced technologies such as AI and data. Applications for the 2026 GovTech Startup Competition will be accepted from Aug. 20 to Sept. 21. The contest has two tracks, selecting about 42 teams for a first-round review and 14 final winners in November. Total prizes of 70 million won will be awarded in December, with preferential benefits for a related support programme next year.

MSIT to back GovTech startups to pilot private AI for public sector issues
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Sunday it selected 18 projects for its 2026 programme to support GovTech startups in piloting and commercialising AI. The scheme matches public agencies\' on-site needs with startups that have suitable technologies and solutions. After reviewing 82 applications, the ministry chose 18 projects. Selected pilots cover public service upgrades, regional and social problem-solving, and public infrastructure innovation.

MSIT invites applications for GovTech AI pilot support programme worth 3.24 billion won
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on March 24 it is inviting applications for a support programme for GovTech startups to pilot and commercialise AI services. Eligible applicants are consortia between GovTech firms that are within 7 years of founding and demand agencies such as central government bodies, local governments and public institutions. The ministry plans to support about 18 projects with a total of 3.24 billion won and provide tailored programmes by development stage.
