Google has renamed its AI-based research tool NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook and added a code execution feature for data analysis. TechCrunch reported the overhaul is part of Google’s effort to fold AI products launched under separate experimental names into the Gemini brand. NotebookLM was first unveiled in 2023 as Project Tailwind and grew into a service used by 30 million users and more than 600,000 organisations.

Google NotebookLM expands AI video features with 60-second shorts
Google has added a feature to its research tool NotebookLM that creates 60-second vertical AI summary videos based on uploaded sources. The rollout will be phased in for Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers, The Verge reported. Google described the output as a “TikTok-style AI video” built from user-provided materials. Users select Video and Shorts in the Studio menu and choose or enter a topic. The feature is currently available only in English, with free-user support planned later.

Even at high prices, users stay as monthly AI subscriptions reach 1,500,000 won
More users are spending hundreds of dollars a month on premium generative AI subscriptions such as Anthropic’s Claude Max, ChatGPT Pro and Google AI Ultra, treating them as work infrastructure rather than consumer services. Some pay more than $1,000 a month to combine token limits and strengths across models. Time savings is a key factor, though complaints about high prices and weaker performance are also growing, including around Anthropic’s Opus 4.7 model.
