KakaoBank launches 26-week automatic gold-buying service
KakaoBank has launched a service that automatically buys physical gold each week over 26 weeks. The bank said on Thursday it launched the service in partnership with physical gold trading platform Geumbang. Customers set a target weight and buy gold in portions through automatic transfers, with the market price at each purchase applied. The gold is secured and stored at facilities linked to Korea Securities Depository and a partner vault.

ITCEN Global says first-quarter revenue doubles, targets future finance with digital gold and stablecoin
ITCEN Global said on Thursday its first-quarter consolidated revenue totalled 3.29 trillion won, about 100 percent higher than a year earlier. It said its Web3 unit, led by Korea Gold Exchange, and its IT services business drove growth. Operating profit rose 193 percent to 99.2 billion won and net profit climbed 178 percent to 72.7 billion won. The company outlined plans for digital gold, a gold-backed wallet app and Japan-linked stablecoin research.

ITCEN launches gold-backed account service
ITCEN Global said on Feb. 19 it has launched a gold-backed account service tentatively named Gold Standard Wallet as it ramps up a real-world asset project digitising 10 trillion won worth of physical gold. The financial app uses KGLD, a token whose value is linked 1:1 with physical gold. It offers digital storage, 1 to 3 percent annual interest through token deposits and loans of stablecoins backed by gold collateral.
