Bitget considers entering licensed crypto business in Bhutan
Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has signed an agreement with authorities in Bhutan’s Gelephu Mindfulness City and is reviewing a move into locally licensed operations. Cointelegraph reported that Bitget plans to explore whether it can run under a local licence to secure a foothold in Bhutan’s digital asset industry. The agreement allows Bitget to build a legal operating base in the city and prepare applications for related financial services licences.

Bhutan accelerates bitcoin sales; holdings could hit zero around September
Bhutan is accelerating sales of its bitcoin holdings, raising the prospect that its national reserves could be effectively depleted around September if the current pace continues. It recently sold an additional 100 BTC worth about $8.1 million. Arkham Intelligence estimates that if average monthly sales of about $50 million continue, Bhutan could exhaust its remaining holdings before the end of September. Bhutan has sold $230.39 million of bitcoin so far this year and has about $252 million left.

Bhutan sells another 319 bitcoins, holdings down 70 percent
Bhutan moved an additional 319 bitcoins from government-linked wallets, extending a selling trend that has continued since late last year. The transfer was worth about $22.68 million, and cumulative outflows since late October last year have exceeded 9,000 bitcoins. Bhutan\'s holdings fell to 3,654 bitcoins in April from about 13,000 at the end of last year, a drop of about 70 percent. The government has not issued a public statement on the move.
